Hand Formatter Progress

The hand formatter is progressing quickly. I’m using http://www.handconverter.fr/‘s output as a model. Here’s where it is at:

Things to do:

  • put a large range of well-selected hands through this to check for edge cases.
  • integrate this whole screen with the hand replayer window, so that you can easily go forwards and backwards through these hands.
  • anonymise the hero
  • make it simple to copy and paste this into a format suitable for poker forums.

Coming in the next Update: Hand Formatter

When you right-click (or ctrl-click) on a hand in Poker Copilot’s “Recent Hands” Summary, you can “View Hand History Text”.

The next update will present the text as either raw text or in a nicely formatted, more readable style. Here’s where I’ve got so far with this:

Before I do more work on this feature, can you tell me your preferred format? I’ve been working with the format created by http://www.handconverter.com/ so far. There’s also the colourful 2+2 format which is a candidate:

Clearly I can offer multiple formats. But I like to start simple.

Changes in how Poker Copilot handles PokerStars tournament summaries

The current update of Poker Copilot no longer has the obsolete options to add PokerStars tournament summaries manually. For a few months PokerStars can give Poker Copilot these files automatically. If you were using one of the older ways, such as letting Poker Copilot scan your Gmail, or manually adding the files into Poker Copilot, you should now enable “Tournament Summaries” in PokerStars.

Instructions are here.

Poker Copilot 2.93 Now Available

Poker Copilot 2.93 is now available to download.

What’s changed:

  • Added support for Hero Poker.
  • PokerStars knockout bounties are now added to Poker Copilot’s tournaments results when you use the “File” -> “Add PokerStars Tournament Audit” option
  • Merge Network with disconnected/reconnected hero now not parsed, as the format of the hand history becomes erratic

What’s fixed:

  • Merge Network limit hold’em hands were not responding correctly to the “Advanced” -> “Stake Level” Filter.
  • Database corruption problems now handled better
  • Added special handling for Full Tilt for players being disconnected midway through a hand

There are also some performance and reliability tweaks.

Update Instructions:

  1. Download the latest version here.
  2. Open the downloaded file.
  3. Drag the Poker Copilot icon to the Applications icon. If prompted to replace an existing version, confirm that you do want to replace.

Now you are done and ready to hit the tables.

Coming in Next Update: PokerStars Knockout Bounties

I’ve been unusually quiet on the Poker Copilot blog lately. That’s because I’ve been getting the most out of my Central American holiday.

Now I’m in a hotel room in San Salvador, El Salvador, at the end of my trip, and flying back to Germany tomorrow. In the last few days, I’ve done less sight-seeing, trekking, swimming, etc, and rested. So I’ve had time to deal with some Poker Copilot issues. Some specific issues I’ve dealt with:

  • By using “FIle” -> “Add PokerStars Tournament Audit…” you can now add PokerStars Knockout Bounties
  • I’ve changed the way unexpected crashes or power outages are handled. This means that the problems in recent versions with crashes and corrupt databases should be much less.

There are some other small tweaks and fixes which I’ll list when I release the update early next week. I just played a couple of tournaments and noticed that my MacBook Pro was getting extremely hot. It seems Poker Copilot was maxing out the CPU. I want to investigate what’s causing this once I’m back in my full office in Germany.

And now a gratuitous holiday snap:
